Achievements Cost-Saving/Service Enhancements
- Generated $6,383,711.44 for the general fund of
Medina County between the years of 1998 through 2006.
- Implemented a new computer software program,
the Sheriffs Jail Linkage System (SJLS), offering internal and external security of inmates. The program was implemented at no cost to the citizens (a savings of $250,000).
- Utilized the empty beds within the new jail by
leasing them to other agencies, generating revenue in excess of $4,000,000 to the county's general fund since taking office.
- At no cost to the county residents, (a $62,000
savings), obtained one of the state's first LiveScan computerized fingerprint systems, which allows immediate connectivity to the FBI and BCI. This provides immediate information on suspects arrested in the county.
In addition to the above cost-savings to Medina County residents, Sheriff Hassinger has instituted the following programs:
- A training academy for new correction officers that
is certified by the Ohio Peace Officers Training Council. Outside police agencies contract with the Medina County Sheriff's Office to train their officers.
- A training program for experienced officers where
they are trained in prisoner cell extraction, dealing with hazardous chemicals, and police ethics. The training program was recently video taped by an outside company that will distribute the training program to other police agencies throughout the United States.
- The implementation of a registration system for
Sexual Offenders, allowing notification to immediate neighbors and school systems in the community where the offender resides.
- The development of a "Deadbeat Dad" Program"
for fathers who neglect child support responsibilities , which located 13 "dead beat dads" in the first month.
- The creation of a program named Deputies Care,
which directs special attention to senior citizens living alone in Medina County.
- Administered a new program on performance-
